    Workouts at home – how to make everyday activities feel like... a workout?

    For many people, physical activity is associated with strenuous workouts at the gym, running, cycling, or exercising at home in front of the TV with famous trainers. All these activities take a lot of time, which – for example – for new mothers or women running their own businesses, might seem insurmountable. Fortunately, physical activity is not just about planned workouts. It can be incorporated into daily life by slightly modifying habits and routines.     5 tricks to increase your physical activity level – without the gym!

    What incidental exercises can you do at home – so that you don't have to dedicate a separate slot in your calendar? Will light physical activity every day be effective for our health, well-being, and improving body shape? Of course – however, it's worth maintaining regularity and good quality of movement. Here are 5 tips to increase your physical activity level without buying a gym membership or fitness classes!

    • To start, a standard piece of advice: skip the elevator and take the stairs. Your entire leg and glute muscles, as well as your spine and back muscles, will thank you for it. By climbing stairs, you'll not only burn extra calories but also improve blood circulation and your fitness.
    • Another trick is to choose walking instead of driving or taking the tram. Even if it's just one stop or one block, after just a few days, you'll feel an improvement in your mood and an increase in energy. During such a short, intense walk, you'll oxygenate your muscles, "wake up" your brain, and – by increasing the length and regularity of your walks – improve your fitness.
    • A good habit will also be changing your mindset about a strong, toned abdomen. When we talk about "six-pack abs," we often think of exercises like thousands of crunches. This is a misleading belief – this type of activity increases pressure in the abdominal cavity, causing organs (including the uterus) to be "pushed down." This weakens the pelvic floor muscles and often leads to... urinary incontinence. A better choice would be home exercises consisting of a few-minute plank (another name for the popular "plank"), as well as not straining the pelvic floor muscles (getting up sideways, maintaining an upright posture when coughing or sneezing). Because a beautiful belly is... a healthy belly!
    • Long walks and stair climbing are not all – to sculpt your glutes, it's worth doing squats at home. However, this doesn't mean you have to dedicate extra time to it – just start doing squats instead of bending down to pick things up from today. You can do this while loading the dishwasher or washing machine, playing with your child, cleaning, lifting objects... any way to do squats at home is good!
    • Let's go back to work for a moment – think about how often you send emails or messages on a messenger to your colleagues? Instead of doing this, it's worth developing the habit of walking over to the person – the further they work from you, the better. By taking these few-minute walks around the office, you'll prevent diseases and pains typical of sedentary work. Plus, you'll get to know your colleagues better!

    Squats at home, planks, cooking yourself, cleaning, hanging laundry... all these activities are physical activity that should be done with engagement!

    Workout leggings, or why it's worth choosing comfortable clothes?

    What limits us from engaging in physical activity? Lack of time is no excuse in light of the tricks mentioned above – you already know that you can successfully do exercises throughout the day, without planning workouts in your calendar or buying a gym membership. However, we often don't feel like bending over, squatting, crouching, or walking due to... uncomfortable clothing. All these activities are better done in workout leggings than in jeans, right?

    To motivate yourself to walk, start wearing opaque leggings – they look good with both tunics and dresses, and they don't restrict movement. At home, put on your leggings for exercise and dedicate energy to lively play with children or your dog – you'll be comfortable, and you won't dirty expensive tailored trousers or your favorite jeans.
