But do you have to do a general renovation right away, along with changing furniture and wall colours? Absolutely not! Today I want to show you how to change your living room with cheap accessories (including DIY accessories) to enjoy a completely new character of the interior!

I recently wanted to refresh my apartment a bit, but… I was limited by my budget. So I decided to look for inspiration on the Internet and check how to change the living room for little money. I followed the advice below and I must admit that it worked perfectly in my apartment. What interior accessories should you choose? I invite you to read! 

Box table – a small investment, a big change 

One of the accessories that will easily (and without much financial outlay!) change any interior is a box table. It can be used in the living room, where it will be useful during movie nights and meetings with friends, as well as in the bedroom – as a bedside table. Such an accessory fits into the interior trend referring to ecology and recycling – it will therefore suit apartments in Scandinavian and industrial styles.

How to make a box table and where to get such a box from? The easiest way to get such a gadget is at a market or bazaar – sellers are happy to sell wooden fruit or vegetable boxes for a few zlotys. You can also try your luck at the supermarket – sometimes staff give away wooden boxes for free to customers who ask for them. A box table will look fantastic if you first carefully sand the wood with sandpaper (this way you will also get rid of splinters), and then paint it with wood primer or white paint. A box table will become mobile when you screw wheels on the bottom (you can find them in any DIY store – they cost a few zlotys). And it’s ready!

Vases from bottles – a trend worth introducing to your interiors 

Charming interior accessories also include vases made from bottles. Their simplicity lies in the fact that they do not have fancy shapes, remain in the spirit of recycling, and – depending on the shape of the bottle – can be adapted to bouquets or flowers of various volumes and sizes.

How to make a vase from a bottle? All you need to do is carefully peel off the label (the glue easily comes off glass if it is in contact with hot steam for a while (for example, from an iron) or high-temperature water (in a dishwasher). The bottle should also be washed inside (residues of alcohol or coloured drinks will not serve fresh, cut flowers) and… it’s ready!

What can you do with tights? Living room cushions! 

How to use torn and damaged women's tights? I know many ways, and one of them is… filling cushions! Sometimes interiors seem unfriendly to us and we want a small change, but we don't know what to do to make them warm and cosy. A DIY cushion will be the perfect solution!

Living room cushions can be placed on the sofa, but they will also work well on the floor during a party, a meal with friends, or while playing a board game. The most wonderful thing, however, is that we don't have to spend a lot of money on living room cushions – we can make them our own way! 

DIY cushion – a great addition to a cosy interior

A DIY cushion is an accessory that is very easy to make. All you need to do is buy cushion covers with zippers that match your interior design and stuff them with… old women's tights! Such living room cushions are very soft, do not deform, and you can also adjust their thickness to your preferences. If you've been wondering what you can do with tights that are lying around in your wardrobe, you've just found the solution! 

Cotton balls – an easy way to brighten up the interior 

Fashionable interior accessories don't have to be expensive. If you want to brighten up your apartment (especially on winter and autumn evenings), a simple solution will be to buy… Christmas tree lights. This is the cheapest option – you can wrap the room lights around the headboard of the bed or place them on the desk – the room will immediately become cosier.

The second option for room lights is ball lights. This model is slightly more expensive than ordinary Christmas tree lights, but it makes a really big impression and emphasises the cosy atmosphere of the room. 

Ball lights: a way to get room lights 

The most expensive, but also the most effective solution, are ball lights in the style of cotton balls. These are medium-sized balls, wrapped in cotton yarn, with bulbs installed inside. They glow with a gentle, slightly subdued light, which immediately makes the room more cosy. Cotton balls also look great when they are turned off – they are available in different colours and sizes, and when turned off they simply look like charming balls of wool. 

Monstera leaves – the most fashionable accessory this season 

How to change the living room in accordance with the latest trends and how to make the most fashionable interior accessories yourself? It's simple – currently the most popular pattern in interior design is monstera leaves – a somewhat forgotten potted plant, resembling exotic palms. This pattern appears on cushions, bedding, and even on… wallpapers. However, if you don't want to radically change your interior, but you like monstera leaves, I have a way for that!

Cut out monstera leaves from coloured, stiff cardboard (match the colours of the leaves to the current interior design) and make a garland out of them! You can hang it on the wall, or… across the room! This is one of the most fashionable accessories this season – use this idea!
