How to improve circulation in legs?

My ways to improve circulation and prevent varicose veins
Currently, varicose veins and leg ailments are a problem for a large part of society. This is due to the fact that many people work at a desk or standing, maintaining one position for several, and sometimes even a dozen or so hours. Such behavior adversely affects blood circulation, resulting in unsightly and health-threatening varicose veins.
What are varicose veins? They are an external symptom of weakened vein walls or improper functioning of venous valves, which is associated with abnormal blood flow. People at risk of developing varicose veins are employees who perform tasks while sitting or standing, as well as children of parents with similar venous problems. How can we protect ourselves from varicose veins and how to strengthen veins – both internally and externally?
Exercises in the office – how to perform them?
Office exercises are a very good idea for improving circulation in the legs. Regular performance of them makes the vein walls more elastic, stimulates muscles and prevents them from becoming flabby. Office exercises will also be useful for people who suffer from calf cramps and from the feeling of heavy and tired legs. How to improve circulation in the legs and feet with a few simple exercises performed during the workday? Here are some suggestions (you can do each exercise while sitting):
- Sit comfortably on a chair and stretch your legs forward (stiffen the knee joint). Make circles with your feet in the air (the ankle joint should work in this exercise) – first inwards, then outwards. Repeat the exercise 10 times for each side.
- How to improve circulation in the feet? The second exercise also involves the ankle joint, and additionally requires activating the calf muscles, and above all, stretching the plantar muscles of the foot. Just sit on a chair, rest your feet on the floor and start moving them as if you wanted to stand on your toes (without lifting your buttocks off the chair). Then shift the weight of your foot to your heel and alternately repeat these movements (toes – heel). Repeat 15 times.
- To improve circulation in the feet, as well as to strengthen the back of the calves, raising and curling your toes will also be a good exercise. You can do this office exercise unnoticed, in shoes. Simply lift your toes as high as possible, firmly tensing the entire foot, and then curl them as far back as possible under you. Repeat the exercise 8-10 times.
- How to improve circulation in the legs and at the same time shape the buttocks? There is a simple way to do this, which will make the blood in the legs circulate much better during sedentary work, and the butt will lift beautifully. Just tense your gluteal muscles as hard as if you wanted to lift your torso with them. Repeating the exercise in the office daily, about 10-15 times, can bring truly spectacular results.
- The last exercise, which involves the entire legs, can also be done while sitting. Just spread your knees as wide as possible, activating the hip joint, and then join them, pressing them firmly together. Perform this movement alternately 15 times.

Sometimes changing position also helps to improve circulation – if you have the opportunity, move with your computer for a while to a sofa, hammock or a bench in the park. Your brain will be oxygenated, you will move your legs and increase work efficiency. In addition, it is worth considering changing the way you move around the city: on warm days, jump on a bike, get off two stops before your destination and cover the rest of the route on foot. More movement has a fantastic effect on improving circulation!
Tights that improve circulation – is it a good choice?
How to improve circulation in the feet and legs when office exercises are not enough? Currently, women's tights are available on the market that support proper blood circulation by using special technology – compression therapy. It involves applying pressure to strategic areas of the legs – i.e. ankles, mid-calves and thighs. Tights designed in this way help to "pump" blood upwards, support the work of veins, and as a result, improve circulation.
In addition, circulation-improving tights reduce the feeling of tired legs and the effect of swelling – so if you have a problem with such troublesome symptoms, consider testing such a model. Manufacturers are now meeting us halfway and producing circulation-improving tights in many color versions and different thicknesses – so each of us can find something for ourselves.
And you? How do you deal with the feeling of heavy legs and with the prevention of varicose veins? Do you have any proven methods? Share them in the comments!
