Swollen feet and tired legs – an ailment that causes the most discomfort in the summer

In summer, tired legs and swollen feet bother us much more than in winter or autumn. Why is this? The main culprits are high temperatures, insufficient hydration, and slower blood circulation. If you also have a sedentary or standing job, swollen ankles and legs are hard to avoid. How can you prevent this?
First and foremost, swollen feet and legs are a sign of poor blood circulation. To improve it, it's worth doing simple exercises during sedentary and standing work, which I already wrote about in this article. They don't take much time, but they effectively improve comfort related to blood circulation in the legs – both during standing and sitting work. Neglecting tired legs and swollen ankles is also the first step to developing varicose veins – to avoid them in the future, you should react to such a problem immediately.
In addition to exercises, regular and increased hydration will also be helpful – especially in summer. Some women fear that swollen legs will bother them even more if they drink a lot of water – that's a mistake! Regular hydration of the body ensures that water does not accumulate in the body "for a rainy day" – drinking water is therefore another way to relieve tired legs and reduce swelling. What else can be done for legs during hot weather? I recommend my secret ritual: anti-varicose tights, compression knee-highs, and regular massages – read on!
Tired legs and swollen feet will rest during massage and bath
To prevent and relieve the feeling of tired legs, it's worth performing massages – both with lotion or oil, and with a special dry brush. How to do it? First of all, the movement should be upwards to stimulate blood circulation towards the heart. The pressure or brushing should not cause pain, but must be strong enough to actually improve blood flow. In addition, a way to relieve tired legs and feet is a cool shower for the legs and soaking feet in water with salt and essential oils, which help to relax and make the skin soft and well-groomed.

A way to relieve tired legs? Two proven tricks
Swollen ankles and feet are particularly bothersome after returning from work – we take off the shoes we've worn all day, feel immediate relief, and then… immediately get to household chores. STOP! Dedicate 15 minutes to your legs, and they will certainly repay you with a beautiful appearance and a feeling of lightness, which each of us misses especially in summer. My two tricks form a certain ritual that I perform immediately after coming home from work.
The first step is to wrap swollen ankles and feet with bandages soaked in cold water. I tightly wrap the skin with the material and move on to the second step, which is lying on the sofa or bed with my legs elevated – most often I rest them on the backrest of the sofa or a high pillow, but you can also use a desk or a chair. It is important that the tired legs are above heart level – then blood from the veins can easily flow back to the rest of the body. That's the whole procedure! After such a 15-minute session, you will feel like a new person, and your legs will be ready for new challenges!

Anti-varicose tights and compression knee-highs – Your weapon in the fight against swelling
Swollen ankles and calves can be reduced in another way that requires no effort from us. This method is wearing anti-varicose tights and compression knee-highs, which support blood circulation. They are an ideal solution for women who are required to come to work in formal attire – in heels, in a women's suit, dress, or skirt.
Anti-varicose tights are designed with special compression zones – places where they are slightly narrower than the rest of the leg. This construction of anti-varicose tights ensures that blood in the legs circulates correctly – even during many hours of standing or sitting. Additionally, this is an element of varicose vein prevention – so these models should be primarily acquired by women whose mothers or grandmothers had problems with varicose veins. Compression knee-highs, on the other hand, are a great solution for ladies who occasionally struggle with swollen legs – especially before their period or during pregnancy. They also ensure proper circulation and do not restrict it around the knees, which means the legs are not as tired at the end of the day as when using regular knee-highs.
