Trip to Italy? Check out the most beautiful places for your holiday!

    Włochy

Rome, Milan, or perhaps Venice? Such a trip to Italy is a dream journey for many people. Unfortunately, due to their popularity, these cities have become significantly more expensive in recent years. The price increases primarily affect accommodation, as well as food and attractions available after purchasing entrance tickets. However, this does not mean that this situation applies to the whole of Italy. Today, I want to convince you to visit some places that are ideal for a holiday in Italy and will not be a huge burden on the family budget.

Interesting places in Italy can be found in both the north and the south of the country. Islands like Sardinia and Sicily are also a great choice, as they are not yet as popular among tourists, and beautiful weather can still be found there in October or November, when prices are already really low. Another suggestion includes the beautiful towns of Cinque Terre or the extremely interesting town located in the Puglia region – Bari. What to choose? I invite you to read the article!

Holidays in Sardinia – a surprising island

One of the interesting destinations for a trip to Italy is the charming island of Sardinia. You can get there from Poland with low-cost airlines such as WizzAir or Ryanair, as well as through charter flights, organized not only during the season but also outside it. It offers plenty of attractions – including, of course, sightseeing and sunbathing. It is worth organizing a holiday in Sardinia in the city of Alghero, on the west coast, which until the 14th century was owned by Spain – and Spanish influences can still be seen in the architecture and language of the local inhabitants to this day (to the extent that Alghero is called little Barcelona).

Visiting Sardinia in the city of Alghero will especially appeal to those who love cycling – a cycling path has been built along the promenade stretching along the coast, offering beautiful views of the beach and the Mediterranean Sea. In addition to cycling, it is worth venturing into the charming streets of the Old Town to admire the preserved fortifications and the beautiful, cramped buildings. Alghero is also a great base for exploring Sardinia – from there you can go to the Capo Caccia peninsula, from where it is easy to get to the famous Neptune's Grotto. A holiday in Sardinia can be diversified by visiting the Porto Conte Natural Park with its lush vegetation and beautiful, atmospheric paths. Recommended beaches include Spiaggia del Lido, Spiaggia delle Bombarde or Spiaggia del Lazzaretto – every sunbathing enthusiast will find something for themselves.

Exploring Sicily – a land full of sunshine

Relatively cheap flights to Italy also go to another Italian island that many people still underestimate. This is a big mistake! You can start exploring Sicily from Palermo, Trapani, or Catania – towns with affordable flights. For your holiday in Sicily, I recommend renting a car and touring the most interesting places on the island in 10-12 days. This is enough time to discover the most beautiful corners of this place.

If you start your holiday in Sicily in Palermo – the capital of the island, you must absolutely explore it, getting lost in its narrow streets and trying local delicacies from street vendors. Later, it is worth heading inland to admire the magnificent Monreale Cathedral, built in the Norman style. Driving west of the island, between Trapani and Marsala, you can come across... salt pans, or famous salt plantations. The view of them provides amazing experiences! Exploring Sicily in the east of the island is also exciting – tourists can find there the ancient Syracuse, trips to the summit of Mount Etna, and the atmospheric Old Town in Catania, which differs slightly from Palermo but retains a typical Italian feel.

Exploring Cinque Terre – an unforgettable atmosphere

In the northwest of sunny Italy lies a place whose appearance simply takes your breath away. I strongly encourage you to visit Cinque Terre! This is admittedly the most expensive option on this list, but the experiences guaranteed by a trip to this place are invaluable.

Cinque Terre is located in the Ligurian Riviera and comprises 5 towns: Vernazza, Monterosso, Manarola, Corniglia, and Riomaggiore. Each of them boasts stunning architecture, consisting of colorful tenement houses that almost "enter" the sea. Numerous beaches and beautiful, though somewhat steep paths, make exploring Cinque Terre a real adventure and a way to discover a completely different face of Italy. It is worth mentioning that the entire area of these towns is inscribed on the UNESCO World Cultural and Natural Heritage list. When moving around the towns, the Cinque Terre Card will certainly come in handy – a card that makes train travel between the towns and entry to scenic routes free of charge.

Exploring Bari – charming historical sites

You can fly to Italy's beautiful eastern coast with low-cost airlines. Why? To visit the beautiful and sunny region of Italy – Puglia, whose main city is Bari – the region's main industrial center with a relatively large port. How to spend a holiday in Bari? There are many possibilities – the coast offers wide, sandy beaches (ideal for families with children), as well as a brilliant Old Town, with wonderful narrow streets and historical sites – including a castle and the Basilica of St. Nicholas.

It is therefore worth starting your exploration of Bari from the city itself, and then treating it as an ideal base for excursions. From there, you can reach the town of Alberobello, famous for its small, white houses, among which every tourist will feel like they are in a fairy-tale setting. Another option is Polignano – it will be especially suitable for people who love uncrowded and picturesque beaches, as the town is known for its charming spots located between rocks and breathtaking, high cliffs.
