Spring and summer are fast approaching. During the last Milan Fashion Week, collections for 2018 were presented, which can certainly be a great inspiration for completing your spring-summer wardrobe. In addition to clothes, the catwalks also featured accessories such as tights, socks for heels, and knee-highs.

Tights for summer or spring can be more than just part of an office dress code (which is not popular among women obliged to wear sheer tights in the heat). It's worth thinking of them as an accessory that completely changes the look of a styling and makes it more interesting or gives it a specific character. What did Milan Fashion Week look like, during which the collections for spring and summer 2018 were presented? I invite you to read on!

Milan Fashion Week – spring-summer inspirations

When it comes to women's tights, there was true diversity on the catwalks in Milan. The Italian fashion house FENDI presented a collection in which the check pattern played a leading role – both on clothes and accessories. Patterned tights with this print complemented the styling and created a "total look," meaning an outfit from head to toe composed around a single motif. According to FENDI, patterned tights are a great idea to complement a pencil skirt and a fitted jacket.

Another Italian brand that certainly deserved recognition during Milan Fashion Week, showcasing the most fashionable creations and tights for summer and spring 2018, was Curiel. Founded in Italy at the beginning of the 19th century, it has since strived to create very feminine creations and sets that strongly emphasize the assets of the female figure. It's no surprise that during last year's Fashion Week, the Curiel brand dressed its models in flared skirts, floral blouses, and… classic, black, sheer women's tights, reminiscent of elegant women from years past.

Another hit presented on the catwalks during Milan Fashion Week was shiny, sheer tights, complementing the daring styles of the Gucci fashion house. Their proposals always stand out with bold colors and patterns, unusual textures, and the materials used in their designs. Shiny, sheer tights are therefore an accessory that further emphasizes the crazy character of the Gucci collection. Such women's tights can be suitable for summer as a complement to evening styles, as they beautifully shimmer in artificial light.

Milan Fashion Week, which showcased the spring and summer 2018 collection, also revealed that fishnets are not going out of style yet. Their popularity significantly increased in the 2016/2017 season, and designers are still drawing inspiration from them. Fishnets accompanied the entire Moschino show. Their stylings were extremely girlish (lace and tulle), but the designers effectively broke them up with fishnets and leather jackets. The whole look was interesting and... original.

In addition to sheer, patterned, and shiny women's tights, designers also focused on other hosiery products, such as knee-highs and socks for heels. The MSGM brand, whose show took place not indoors but on the streets of Milan, delighted with the delicacy and girlishness of its designs, incorporating socks for heels. Thanks to this accessory, the stylings gained incredible lightness and freshness.

The Ricostru brand, on the other hand, opted for a heavier take on women's fashion and paired black, long socks with flat, sporty shoes and an elegant top – a pencil skirt and a sheer top. This look will certainly appeal to daring women who enjoy playing with fashion.

However, some designers went further and, instead of socks for heels, completed the models' stylings with... knee-highs. The Prada fashion house launched a collection in which almost all models presented clothes paired with gray and black, thick knee-highs. In contrast, Italian designer Francesco Scognamiglio added pastel-colored knee-highs, paired with delicate heeled sandals, to his girlish designs.

Sheer and patterned tights for summer, fishnets – classic and modern

Tights for spring and summer can have many faces – this was evident during Milan Fashion Week. And what can they be worn with and combined with to translate the crazy creations of fashion houses into everyday outfits? Shiny, sheer tights are worth pairing with a flared, off-the-shoulder dress – such an outfit will certainly be perfect for all spring and summer events: from communions to weddings. The second type of women's tights is, of course, fishnets, which will still be fashionable in spring and autumn 2018. They can be combined with loose boyfriend jeans, shorts, dresses, sneakers, heels, or... sports t-shirts. Last year showed that there are no taboos in the fashion world of fishnets. Another trend will be patterned tights – plaid, as well as other geometric (or even pop-art) patterns. Such a model will liven up even the dullest, subdued styling – so it's worth using patterned tights as an accessory that draws attention to the lower part of the silhouette, i.e., the legs.

Socks for heels, knee-highs – original accessories

In addition to tights for spring and summer, it's also worth considering adding socks for heels and knee-highs to your wardrobe. Milan Fashion Week clearly showed that these accessories will triumph in summer and spring stylings. Shiny socks for heels will look great with both girlish tulle skirts and fitted pencil dresses, and knee-highs will add freshness to any outfit. However, when it comes to knee-highs, you have to be careful about the "schoolgirl effect" – it's not advisable to combine this accessory with plaid knee-length skirts – it's better to pair them with unexpected wardrobe elements, such as wide shorts or a maxi skirt with a slit.
