The degree of sheerness and transparency in hosiery

Dullness describes the level of gloss of a given model. Matte tights ("matte") will not shine at all. "Semi-matte" tights are characterized by a delicate sheen. On the other hand, "shine" refers to shiny tights. For everyday wear, opt for matte or semi-matte tights – they are perfect as a complement to your work attire. Shiny tights, especially those with an interesting pattern or in an intriguing color, will attract attention – they perfectly match evening outfits and attire for grand occasions. However, when paired with airy, summer dresses, they might create a slight mismatch.
What about transparency? Usually, the thinner the tights, the more transparent they are; those with a thickness of up to 20 den are usually described as transparent. Semi-opaque tights are 20 – 40 den thick, while thicker ones or those made of wool or cotton will provide complete coverage. You can use the coverage level to correct skin imperfections on your legs, although it is generally accepted that tights for weddings or other formal occasions should not be heavily opaque. However, much also depends on the material of the outfit: for thicker dresses or skirts and heavier shoes, it is worth choosing opaque tights.
