The search for the perfect prom dress is still on. Soon, many of you will attend one of the most exciting events of your lives. If you don't have a prom dress yet and don't know what accessories to choose, read on!
My search for a prom dress didn't last long – my mother took me to a seamstress who made me a creation perfectly suited to my figure. However, that was a long time ago – today, beautiful prom dresses can be bought in many chain stores, and you don't have to overpay for a custom-made one. Additionally, the models available in such stores are truly diverse – you'll find long and short creations, shiny, velvet, made from natural materials or with sequins. I've chosen a few suggestions that might inspire you for this wonderful evening.
Short prom dresses – show off your legs!
Classic prom outfits usually feature high heels and a midi-length (knee-length) dress. Such a set is an excellent choice if you want to show off your shapely legs. However, it's worth thinking about making the dress stand out with a specific element. Remember that prom dresses don't have to be entirely made of sequins or lace – the key to a beautiful style is moderation. Besides, you can accentuate a simple creation with a distinctive accessory – seamed stockings, glitter socks, or an embroidered handbag.
When planning to buy a prom dress, it's also worth considering what we want to hide in our figure and what we want to highlight. Shiny sequins and irregular textures certainly attract attention and focus light, so a sequin finish on the dress placed in a strategic spot can visually enlarge the bust. On the other hand, a lace princess-cut dress will beautifully accentuate a hourglass figure – it will emphasize a narrow waist and draw attention to feminine hips.
To draw attention to shapely legs, it's worth choosing a prom dress with an asymmetrical hem, exposing the leg above the knee on one side, and discreetly covering what should remain covered on the other. If you want the dress to emphasize the entire figure, opt for a knee-length model with a small neckline, but with a bandage cut. This solution will make you look elegant and feminine, but not vulgar.

Long prom dresses are back in fashion!
Prom styles based on long dresses were forgotten for several years, but now they are making a comeback. If you want to look very elegant, feminine, and at the same time hide any figure imperfections at your prom, opt for a long version of a prom dress.
A good choice for every body type will be a dress that clearly accentuates the waist and is made of a light, delicately body-hugging material. It is worth reaching for non-standard colors – sweet pink, slightly darker and more expressive than its powdered variety, as well as bottle green, which is classic and elegant but adds freshness to a prom outfit.
If you choose a long prom dress, be careful with black – it can be overwhelming and make your complexion look pale and unhealthy. Instead of black for such an occasion, it's worth choosing navy blue – it's slightly lighter than black but still looks extremely elegant. For the brave, I suggest choosing red – I guarantee you'll be noticed by everyone!

Even the most boring prom outfit can be transformed by well-chosen and eye-catching accessories. However, if your dress is already sufficiently ornate (for example, embroidered with stones or sequins), opt for nude high heels and a plain-colored handbag. With a simple creation, you can go wild with accessories: a sequin handbag, glitter high heels, or… shoes embroidered with a floral motif.

Another accessory that cannot be forgotten during preparations for this special evening is, of course, tights or stockings for the prom. Which ones to choose? We will, of course, be warmest in opaque winter tights, but they do not always match the dress. For a simple creation, it is worth choosing patterned tights, which emphasize the leg line, but they will not work if you want to hide their imperfections. Owners of slim and shapely legs can opt for shiny tights for prom with the addition of metallic yarn (i.e., lurex).
For the more adventurous among you, I also have an interesting suggestion: seamed stockings! They will perfectly complement the retro character of a red garter, which, worn this evening, is meant to bring good luck during the matriculation exams. And if you want to feel truly feminine and elegant, choose stockings for prom with a waist belt. Contrary to appearances, they are very comfortable (you don't have to take them off when visiting the toilet), and a well-chosen belt will successfully help smooth out folds on the abdomen and hips.
Leg-adorning accessories are not just patterned tights or seamed stockings. The hit of recent months are glitter socks, worn with ankle boots, hiking boots, and also… elegant high heels! Openwork, shiny socks or socks with ruffles perfectly highlight shapely legs, attract attention, and constitute an original accessory that will certainly help you stand out.

Prom dresses – inspirations from trendsetters
When choosing prom dresses, it's worth looking for inspiration online. Top trendsetters often pose on red carpets and present their elegant yet feminine styles. I've decided to mention a few of them here so you can adapt some of these solutions to your prom outfits.
For La Mania's December show, Maffashion wore a red and black long creation with ruffles and a slit. An interesting complement to this elegant dress is a black ramoneska jacket, which gives the set a rock character. Perhaps such a solution will also work for your prom styling?
In her Christmas styling, Jessica Mercedes opted for soft, shimmering velvet. This material is slowly coming back into fashion, and in the form of a midi dress, it will be perfect for prom. It's worth pairing it with matte winter tights, which will perfectly complement the subtle sheen of the velvet.
Tamara Gonzales, known in the blogosphere as Macademian Girl, opted for deep, shimmering red in her Christmas styling. You can get inspiration from this set – just remember not to overdo it with accessories – forget about patterned tights, a sequin bag, and shimmering makeup. Instead, choose a black clutch, low, classic pumps, and seamed stockings at the back – the styling will be elegant and feminine.
A "total look" style is also a good idea – Kasia and Justyna, friends from the Love and Great Shoes channel, used this principle when putting together their outfits for a party.
