Foot spa – how to do it at home? Part II

Foot care after exfoliation – how to get started?
In the previous post in the Foot SPA series, I told you how to effectively exfoliate your feet using various methods. I hope you found a method that works most effectively for you. Today, I want to show you how to easily care for feet that have been previously exfoliated.
Very often, our foot care (especially in winter) is limited only to exfoliation – sometimes we use a scrub, sometimes a pumice stone, and then we forget about our feet for a few weeks – this is a big mistake! Foot skin should be regularly moisturized because it quickly thickens under pressure – and this can lead to various types of changes (calluses or corns). Weekly foot SPA and regular foot care should become a habit – especially in winter, when feet are exposed to long periods of pressure in shoes and thick socks. If you have already read my previous article on foot exfoliation, you already know the first step to beautiful skin. Today, I want to show you how to quickly and cheaply improve the appearance of your feet – not just by using a pumice stone or exfoliating socks. Happy reading!
Foot bath – so the cream can absorb faster
The first thing I do right after exfoliating is a foot bath. Why? First of all, such a treatment opens the pores of the skin (which is not so easy in the case of foot skin) and allows the ingredients of the bath and the cream (which we apply later) to absorb better into the deeper layers of the skin, and thus – to work and moisturize better. In addition, a warm foot bath with essential oils relieves foot tension, allows them to rest and relax, which is very important after a long day on your feet. Thanks to regular foot baths (and thanks to their relaxation) we prevent painful muscle cramps in this area of our body.
How to care for your feet and how to take such a bath? It's really very simple! All you need to do is pour warm (never hot!) water into a plastic bowl and add foot salt purchased at a drugstore or Himalayan salt. Additionally, you can add a few drops of baby oil, essential oil, and other semi-finished products to the water, thanks to which the foot bath will bring you even more benefits (for example, it can be refreshing peppermint oil or moisturizing glycerin).
I always do such a foot bath after exfoliating them. Why? After a treatment that aims to remove dead skin, its remnants remain on the feet. Even though we don't see them, they really are there! The bath is therefore intended not only to soften the skin and open the pores, but also... to deeply cleanse, as a result of which we can be sure that all dead skin will certainly be removed and will not be an obstacle for the absorbing cream. What next?

For foot baths, in addition to salt, you can also use fresh and dried herbs!
Overnight foot mask – it's easier than you think!
The last step I take as part of my foot SPA is applying a "mask." How do I do it? Very simply – I apply a very thick layer of the cream I'm currently using (I recommend buying those that contain highly moisturizing urea or soothing aloe vera juice). The portion of cream is so large that it's visible to the naked eye – that's why I call this treatment a "foot mask." Then, on my prepared feet, I put on cotton socks and go to sleep. Thanks to this, I can admire my smooth, soothed, and moisturized foot skin from the morning. Of course, you can buy overnight foot masks in stores and drugstores, similar to exfoliating socks, but I believe there's no point in wasting money on them. A much cheaper solution is a foot mask created from your currently used, favorite cream – it works just as well as the drugstore one, and it's significantly easier to prepare and use.
These are all the tricks I use to make my foot care as effective as possible. How about you? Do you skip foot SPAs during the winter months? Or do you care for them with double the effort then? Let me know in the comments!
