My ways to beat the autumn blues

Autumn blues eventually catch everyone – shorter days, less sun, and thus – less warmth... Many people at this time just want to wrap themselves in a blanket and wait until spring with a book and liters of warm tea. However, I have a few proven ways to make cool evenings more pleasant and improve your mood in autumn and winter, getting rid of the bad mood.
My ways to beat the blues might seem quite obvious, but it’s worth remembering them and making them a ritual that will certainly improve your mood on autumn, cool days. Why a ritual? Developing certain habits or regularly performing enjoyable activities is a form of reward – something you eagerly look forward to after returning from college or school. If you’re curious how I deal with autumn blues and what’s part of my routine during the colder seasons (besides, of course, wrapping myself in a blanket and reading books or watching series), then I invite you to read the article!
Slip into your leggings for exercise and go wild on the mat!
One of my proven ways to beat the blues is exercise. I know that not everyone feels like leaving home after work or classes to run a few kilometers or go to the gym. Believe me – I don’t feel like it either! That’s when I pull out my yoga mat, turn on a short program on YouTube, and dedicate a dozen or so minutes to myself and my body. Such calm exercises, performed every other day, really improve my mood and help get rid of the autumn blues! Movement gives you the awareness that you’re taking care of your body, your muscles relax, and your brain rests. My favorite exercises are those that incorporate elements of Pilates or yoga.
An additional, pleasant aspect of exercising at home is the fact that no one sees or judges you. However, this doesn’t mean you have to work out in stretched-out sweatpants and an old t-shirt. I personally like to slip into sports leggings, because not only do they shape the figure and make you look simply better, but they also facilitate exercises, don't slide down from the hips, and are very comfortable. Remember that exercise leggings can be used not only for training – they can also be a great addition to casual, loose home outfits. Buying sports leggings is always a good idea – make yourself a small, autumn gift!

Energy-boosting food – try homemade comfort food!
I must admit, I'm a big fan of seasonal cooking. In autumn, I always make various dishes with pumpkin, zucchini, eggplant, or bell peppers. I pay attention to what I eat, because I not only want to look good, but also feel good in my own body. However, autumn blues are not what increases motivation to cook – many people during this period use ready-made snacks and meals, wanting to save some time from an already short day.
It is worth thinking about cooking as entertainment, the result of which will be a delicious, warm meal. You can invite your partner, family, children or friends to cook together. This is also my way to beat the blues – I cook energy-boosting, delicious, filling food – simply comfort food! This term refers to dishes that make us feel good. For some, it might be grandma's chicken soup, for others – Italian pasta, and for still others – simply a cup of cocoa or hot chocolate. Cooking by yourself gives a lot of satisfaction – remember, however, that the dish should be energy-boosting, nutritious, tasty food – so choose good quality ingredients, the aforementioned seasonal vegetables, as well as warming and aromatic spices. My "comfort food" in autumn is creamy pumpkin soup, with the addition of curry, turmeric, fresh ginger and chili pepper, sprinkled with parsley (rich in vitamin C).

Push-up tights, funny slippers or earmuffs – accessories that improve your mood!
A well-known way to beat the blues for all girls and women is, of course... shopping! However, to avoid ruining your wallet, it’s worth focusing on small accessories that will improve your mood and well-being on autumn and winter days, but don’t cost too much. During the colder months, when motivation for exercise drops and – let's be honest – we move a little less often, I like to supplement my wardrobe with push-up tights and anti-varicose vein tights, as well as patterned models. Why? Push-up tights effectively shape my figure – especially if I want to wear a tight, warm knitted dress. Anti-varicose vein tights, in turn, are an ideal way to soothe tired legs after a whole day, and also a step towards prevention. Polka dot, heart-patterned, or other patterned tights are a fantastic everyday accessory – they spice up even the dullest outfit and instantly put me in a good mood!
I also chase away the autumn blues by buying other accessories that cheer me up: for some, these might be festive cushions for the home, large tea mugs, or other accessories. I must admit that I love... funny slippers! Every season I buy fluffy or animal-shaped shoes for walking around the house – they make returning from work or college more pleasant, look funny, and most importantly, they are very warm! A gadget that, in turn, makes me feel like a little girl is earmuffs – perfect for cold mornings and evenings. I buy cute one-finger gloves to match, and that's it – autumn blues don't stand a chance with me!
